Anyone who reads my blog
regularly knows I love Raf Simons, having posted on his couture collection here
and also named Jennifer Lawrence my Look of The Week in this outfit a few weeks
ago, so I thought it was only right to post about his show at Paris Fashion
Week.
Some of the ideas he included in
the couture show were also present in the ready to wear, including strapless dresses
worn over slim trousers, and the huge skirts, although
slightly slimmed down and lengthened. Then there was the famous peplumed Bar
jacket worn as a dress; silk T-shirt dresses with asymmetric trains, some
veiled with tulle tunics and a line satin dresses, as a nod to 60s Dior. There
was a lot of movement with gorgeous layers of organza, sometimes as many as six
in a single dress, and the bias cut pleats on the peplumed jackets and mini
skirts were inspired by Christian Dior's architectural pleating from the 1950s,
which resulted in a collection that Simons described as being inspired by “sex,
freedom, movement, sensuality, minimalism.” (oh-er!)
Here’s a few of my favourite
pieces. I particularly love the strapless dresses over shorts (really easy to
copy with a tied kaftan - look I’ll be
trying to copy as soon as weather permits), and love this yellow asymmetrical
peplum.
I’d love to know what you guys
think!
