I’ve been dying to wear this dress for ages, but never
had the opportunity, but last week when our friends were visiting we went out
for a gorgeous meal to The Bungalow in Clifton, so thought it was the perfect
opportunity. These pics were not meant
to be for the blog, but I wanted to post about it as I love this so much, so
the close up of the print is one I’ve just snapped now. I saw this dress in a magazine when we 1st
moved to Cape Town, so I asked my friend back in the UK to search for it in
Primark, but she couldn’t find it anywhere.
I looked on Ebay and they were selling for £90 so I knew it was sold out
so stopped thinking about it. Anyway,
when she went into Primark to buy me some shoes (do you see a pattern? I Skype her, show her a picture and send her
off on a shopping mission……. I had bags full when I got back to the UK!) she saw
it in the sale for £6! It was a size too
big, but I’ve managed to take it in, and I love it! I loved last season’s Mary Katrantzou
collection, especially the lampshade shapes, and I thought this dress was a
perfect take on that and 100 times cheaper than even the Topshop collection!
I wore this with a leather biker jacket, as my style is
always to mix softer and harder pieces.
Plus I saw Demi Lovato wearing something similar on X Factor USA, so I was inspired by that too. I find Cape Town to not be that dressy, so I find adding a leather
jacket dulls down a dressy piece, so I don’t stand out TOO much! That said, I’ve kinda learnt not to worry,
this is how I dress, and if people don’t like it, tough!!
